Dalhousie is a quiet hill station of Himachal Pradeshon the northern side of India and is filled with enchanting beautiful valleys and landscape. On the east of the river Ravi lies this hill station which has a spread of five hills which are low level lying on the western of Dhauladhar range. This town has a picturesque view and it has very old buildings of thecolonial era with hotels and houses that are low roofed.
In 1854 the gateway to a colonial town called the Chamba Valley was established by governor general of the British, Lord Dalhousie.
History
In the year 1854, Dalhousie,a small hill station in the state Himachal Pradesh, was established by the British as a place for retreat during the summer.
This hill station is surrounded by five hills all around and it lies on the west of Dhauladhar range of mountains of The Himalayas. The main center of all the culture here is Chamba. Bharmour which is an ancient capital of this region is the home of Gaddi tribe.
Dalhousie By Air
Pathankot and Jammu are the nearest airports from Dalhousie at a distance 80km and 180km simultaneously. However Jammu has a better connectivity to various places including Delhi along with other places of North India than Pathankot.
Dalhousie By Train
Pathankot has the nearest train station which is approximately 80km away from Dalhousie and is properly connected to cities like Amritsar, Delhi and Mumbai.
Dalhousie By Bus
Bus service is available which connects town in Dalhousie as well as towns around it. For a Volvo AC bus, the charge comes round Rs.1500 and the luxury buses can be availed from Delhi.
Places To Visit
Subhash Baoli, Dalhousie
It contains very little snow-clad mountains and is at a distance of 1.6km from GPO square. At a height of 2.085 metres this places’ spring is situated.
Satdhara, Dalhousie
These are a total of seven springs and are good for therapy as they mica can be found to be contained in them which ahs medicinal properties. It is at a height of 2,036m on the route to Panjpulla.
Panjpulla, Dalhousie
At a distance of 2kms there lies a memorial containing 'five bridges' in the memory of India’s one of the most-loved freedom fighters Ajit Singh. This place is serene due to its natural tank and the creams.

Dalhousie is a famous destination which has pleasant climate for most part of the year making it tourist friendly.
  • Summers (March to May) During this season the temperature is pleasant with the maximum range of temperature  being not more than 26°C and this weather is the best for walks round nature.
  • Monsoons (June to September) During this season there are mild showers making the place even more attractive and so is the climate during the autumn season (October to November).
  • Winters (December to February) During this season the temperature gets very chilly and varies from 10°C to 1°C and snowfalls are very common during this season.

Languages that are spoken in this place are Pahari (local dialect), Hindi and English.
Culture
Dalhousie has a rich history of art and culture. The people here are dressed in colorful dresses and they have a noticeable physical feature, moreover they have a warm nature and friendly attitude that attracts the attention. They have a special kind of fold dance accompanied with music and it is fun to learn a few steps of the dance. The cuisines here are worth giving a shot.

Chamba -50 km
Located on the hilly parts of Himachal Pradesh, Chamba ranges from an height of 2000m to 2100 m and the area it covers in Himachal Pradesh is about 6528sq km.

Famous for its woolens, shawls, dolls, cane baskets, Dalhousie is one of the favourite shopping spot for the tourists. The Himachal Handloom industries for Thandi sarek, Tibetan handicrafts are the major handicraft’s stores.
In the Tibetan market and the malls the tourists can find many souvenirs and imported goodsto take back home. In Gandhi Chowk many mementos can be found.
