Situated in the Himalaya’s Satpura Ranges in The Madhya Pradesh state of India, the Satpura Tiger Reserve is a prominent location. The 1427 square kilometers area of it is the combination of both Bori and Panchmarhi sanctuaries. Highly shrugged terrain at this place houses many sandstone peaks so are the narrow gorges and ravines here. Equally is describable the dense forestry area here which can be entered through Madai Gate, Kajri Gate and Anarpani Gate respectively that are three main gates. Ample wildlife turns it charismatic hence several adventurous tasks can be performed in the region. The accommodation facilities nearby offer good opportunity for relaxation spot visits. The park had been set up in the year 1981 with a total location area of 524 square kilometers. Its area is pretty, beautified and nature’s true portrayal. In fact it is least visited Indian park and not known much though it has good potentiality.
History
According to the historical counts of this region, this place was named after the Gond tribes that had majority inhibition here henceforth the area became integral Gondwana tract part. The tribe would usually involve in cultivation activities here. Rajputs infiltrated this region during 14th and 15th centuries and at the same juncture Mougals had already dominated in various areas in the Narmada valley as agriculturally rich area attracted their attention. Finally Gonds were forced to shift into the higher plateaus besides slopes where they involved in hunting and cultivation activities. The period between 17th and 18th centuries brought ample tension in the region while Mughals and Marathas kept fighting to cause unrest.
The British had its advent here by 1818. Setting up of forest department in central provinces completed in 1861 that was guided by the then Captain GF Pearson representing Madras Army. The team also included Captain J. Forsyth representing Bengal staff Corps to assist him. This forest department exclusively for the central province finally came into operation in 1862 from Bison Lodge building in Pachmarhi area. A new building has been erected now and the original house is no more there. It too has been named Bison lodge that now serves as forest museum controlled by the Satpura National Park team.

The visitors should choose December to June months to visit here that remains best time for complete enjoyment.
How To Reach
By Air
Three airports Bhopal, Jabalpur and Nagpur serve for the air route. Visitors from any part of the country may reach here through choosing those airports.
By Rail
Again the three main cities Bhopal, Jabalpur and Nagpur serve from rail route. Visitors come at Piparia or Itarsi stations if coming through Bombay-Howrah railway rout to reach here.
By Road
Distance between Pachmarhi and Piparia is 52 kilometers through road. Pachmarhi is located nearest to local bus station are mere 5 kilometers. If willing to come through Panarpani Gate near Pachmarhi then drive up to that location.
Flora And Fauna
Flora
Different types of bamboo species from Bans Dendrocalamus Strictus to Water Ferns and multiple other species, Mahua, Tendu, Haldu and Jamun are found here.
Fauna
Mammals
Some of the major mammals include leopard, tiger, elephant, bison and wild buffalo amongst others. Barasingha, Sambar, Chital and Barking Deer are seen here commonly. So do you see Chinkara, Mouse Deer and Chausingha famous with its four horned Antelope and other animals especially nilgai, sloth bear and rhesus monkey etc. Wild dog, also called dhole, wolf and foxes are usual like jackal, jungle cats and various giant squirrel as well as flying squirrel present in the park.
Reptiles
List of reptiles is long out of that major ones include cobra, russels viper, python, chameleon and Indian Monitor besides crocodile abundantly found here.
Birds
Notable birds present here are partridges, pigeons, jungle fowls, quails, doves and parakeets etc. The presence of bee-eaters, kingfishers, woodpeckers, owls, warblers and mynas remain related attractions. Munias, paradise Dly catchers,bulbuls, egrets, vultures, falcons and eagles are rest attractions.
