This place is enroute the Mukteshwar that is part of the Nainital district and is a very small hill station. The hill station has numerous orchards flowers. The place is surrounded by snow-covered Himalayas. In the older times this place was an English army cantonment. The ashrams associated to Rabindranath Tagore the famous poets whose poems are still fresh in everyone’s memory and Narain Swami one of the famous social workers are located in this place. Lachma the eminent story that is part of Ramgarh and the prominent work of Mahadevi Verma a famous writer of her time has a library that speaks about her work.
Ramgarh is also named as “Fruit Bowl of Kumaon” because of the rich groves of Peach, Pears, Appleas and Apricots. The Ramgarh village is segregated in two parts because of their location. The first part is Malla that is on the higher elevation and the lower downhill area known as Talla.
History
The history of Ramgarh is quite old and goes back to 1791 and has its relation to the Poddar Family since they were the founders of this place. During the 19th century this was considered as the richest town in India. This place has relation to a Social worker whose name is Shree Gorakh Ram Ji Varma or Netaji as he was born here in 1901.

How to Reach
By Air
The closest airport to Ramgarh is Pantnagar that is at a distance of 76 kms from Ramgarh. The visitors of Ramgarh can then take taxis to move to Ramgarh from Pantnagar airport. There are flights that take off daily from Delhi to Pantnagar.
By Rail
The nearest rail line to Ramgarh is the Kathgodam railway station and that is just 45 kms from Ramgarh. The rail line of Kathgodam is well connected to cities like Lucknow, Kolkata and Delhi etc. The train from Delhi to Kathgodam are twice a day. The station of Kathgodam acts as a gateway for the Kumaon region. One can then take taxi or local buses to move to Ramgarh from Kathgodam.
By Road
The Ramgarh though is located in the faraway area but is highly connected to the roads of the northern India. The visitors to Ramgarh can board buses from ISBT Anand Vihar in New Delhi. There are various luxurious buses that ply from Delhi to Kathgodam by various private travel agents.
Places to Visit
Tooti Jharna Temple
This is located just 7 km from the Ramgarh and is on the NH-33 and the Lord Shiva temple is part of this place and a lake known as Shiv Linga flows through this place.
Mayatungri Temple
Located at a distance of 5 kms from Ramgarh and in its south is known as the Daughter of the hills. It is in the Chutupalu valley. The tourists are attracted to this place because of its scenic beauty. The festival celebrated here is called Karma and this is celebrated with full enthusiasm.  People here also celebrate Durgapuja and Nawratra.
Mata Vaishno Devi Temple
This temple in the Ramgarh cantonment was built in year 1991 and the gumbad of this temple is of gold.
Kaitha Shiv Mandir
This temple is on the NH-23 and is just 3 km from Ramgarh. This has now been called as theNational Monument and was built in the year 1670.
Weather and Best Time to Visit
Weather
The temperature during the months from April to July is declared as the summer season of the region and the temperature varies from 26 degrees to 14 degrees during these months. The season of the autumn is during the months of September to November while the springs are during March and April. The winters are in January and February.
The visitors of this place though feel comfortable throughout the year.
