Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple, is situated in the close vicinity of Lansdowne. This temple is located on a very high altitude of 2092 meters from MSL. Lord Shiva is the main deity of this temple. In this temple premises, the festival of Mahashivrati is celebrated on large scale. The greenery and lush forestry around the temple is mesmerizing. Sky-high series of Deodar trees make a natural wall around the temple.

Kotdwar is nearest railway station to reach Tarkeshwar hill station. This station is located at 35 kilometers distance from Lansdowne. Garhwal Express from Delhi and Doon Express from Kolkata connect major parts of the country to this hill station.

By Road

Road connection is spread out very well. A web of various type of national highways, state highways, link roads, pitch roads are there to access this hill station. Taxies are available at affordable rate of Rs. 750. From Delhi, Mussoorie, Hardwar and Dehradun, regular road transport is available.

By Air

Jolly Grant airport is the nearest airport. This airport is located at 100 kilometers fromLansdowne. Dehradun is well connected to Delhi. The air transportation is cheaper too. Rs. 2000/- costs a person from Delhi to Dehradun. Delhi airport is just 236 kilometers away fromLansdowne airport.

Weather and Climate

Best Season to visit this place is between March to October.

During Summers, temperature of this place remains between 150C to 300C and during wintersthe mercury goes down below zero level and reaches at the freezing point. Minimum and maximum temperature range during winter is -40C to 170C.

Climate of this place is subtropical; hence, chilled winter is normal matter. However, Summers are pleasant here. During entire winter season, snowfall is continuing. This is another attraction of this area. Visitors coming to see snowfall cannot go back empty hands.
