Between the Shivalik and Foothills of Himalaya in theSouth and North respectively lies Dehradun and is considered as the interim capital of the state of Uttarakhand. The enchanting beauty of this place mesmerizes its visitors.
In between the river Yamuna and Ganga it is part of the Doon valley. The visitors to this place feel calm and relaxed as the climate of this place remains adequate throughout the summers. The scenic beautiful of Dehradun is extremely beautiful. The famous Doon School is also located in Dehradun. Doon school is also named as Eton of India.
History
As the history says Dehradun has been part of Ashoka Kingdom till B.C. third century. The Gorkhas ruled here till two decades that was till 1815. In the year 1825 and 1829 it was part of Kumaon Division and Meerut Division respectively.

By Air
The main airport of Dehradun is Jolly Grant Airport where flights of many airlines ply.
By Road
Dehradun itself is the major station and is the last railhead for Uttarakhand. The trains frommajor cities like Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata etc. connect to Denradun.
By Bus
Luxurious buses can be bored from ISBT Kashmere Gate in Delhi to reach Dehradun. It takes time of six to seven hours to reach Dehradun from Delhi. Dehradun Bus station is at a distanceof 5-6 kms from main city.
Places to Visit
Nag Devta Temple
At a distance of 6 kms from the town and on the Cart road is the ancient temple called Nag Devta.
Bhadraj Temple
The temple is devoted to Lord Balbhadra and is 15 kms away from main city of Dehradun.

The weather of Dehradun remains pleasant throughout the year as it has a unique location on the Himalayan foots. The weather in summers is pleasant while the winters experience temperature below zero degrees.

Festivals
Jhanda Fair
On the fifth day of Holi and in remembrance if Guru a day is celebrated every year at Guru Ram Rai Darbar. On this day people from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh visit to celebrate.
Mahasu Devta's Fair
It is celebrated in Hanol at a distance of 120 kms from Dehradun city.This is celebrated every year in August. It goes for three days by reciting Musical Prayers.
