History

The place is not a very big hill station but still it has all those elements that make the hill station worth visiting. The administration of most of the area in Pachmarhi is under PCB, serving the army of India. There are number of hotels available to cater to the accommodation and food needs of the tourists. There are a number of markets available too, but that is quite congested market area. The population is around 10,000 and most of this population is comprised of army installations. Since the army is present in the place there is maintenance of law and order in the region. Due to the availability of forests around this place it has been named a Bio reserve in 2009. The place has also got a rich history and from it is quite evident that since ancient times the place has been famous for its beauty. Before the Britishers annexed this region, Pachmarhi was its capital. The beautiful city was exposed to the world by Sir James Forsyth in 1857, the time when India has its first revolt for freedom. Even during that time, the population of the place used to rise during the summer season.

When it comes to access Pachmarhi, one could find a number of ways to do so. Bhopal airport is the nearest airport to Pachmarhi and it is 195 km away. There a number of flights that connect Bhopal to many important air stations of the nation. The other airports near Pachmarhi are Raja Bhoj Airport situated in Bhopal and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport. There is Pipariya railway station which is just 47 km away from Pachmarhi and this railway station is o the main line of Mumbai- Howrah and almost all significant trains stop at this junction. Lanjee Giri

Though there are a number of places to visit in Pachmarhi, but the most famous ones are just a few, out of which Lanjee Giri is very significant. This place is very popular among the rock climbing enthusiasts. A lot of adventure camps are held here every year and the hill can be scaled from both sides of the mountain.

Jata Shankar

Jata Shanker is a cave that is very sacred from religious point of view as the mythology says that Lord Mahadeo reached this cave through a tunnel to save himself from the demon king.

Christ Church

Christ church is also a beautifully build small church in Pachmarhi. This was built by the Britishers and it is believed that this is one of the most beautiful churches built in Madhya Pradesh.
