History

Agumbe is a small town in the Shimoga area inKarnataka, of India. Positioned in the Thirthahalli taluk and the Malnad area, Agumbe is treated as a heavy rainfall area of India generating the sobriquetfor itself, "Cherrapunji of the South”. It is also regarded as the abode of the Agumbe Rainforest Analysis Place, the only lasting forest research station in India.
