Other than the famous Back waters, Charalkunnu hills is  one of the most scenic beauties that can be enjoyed by all tourists, placed in the lap of South India in Kerala. Charalkunnu hills is just 17 kms northwest of Pathanamthitta town and 5 kms away from Kozhencherry . The hills overlook the low lying valleys and the river Pamba which flows along the mountain down the valley is mind boggling. The serene and virgin beauty of the whole place enthralls tourists. The tourism industry is at a peak during all seasons to enjoy the panoramic view of the mountains.The whole area is endowed with dense evergreen forests, which is a pleasure to the eye. The Charalkunnu hills is blessed with serene beauty and virgin nature. The Kumbhavuruthy waterfall which is at a distance of 11kms from Pathanamthitta is located in the deep forests of Konni . Tourists who are adventurous enough can have a look at the waterfall after 2 days of trekking along the hills. The refreshing beauty in the midst of the forest provides comfort to the eyes of tourists.
Perunthenaruvi Water Falls
Another waterfall adding to the beauty of the Charalkunnu hills is Perumthenaruvi. The term Perumthenaruvi meaning the Honey River is a favorite tourist spot and picnic spot. The awesome view overlooking the water cascading from the hills adds to the panoramic view of the spot. The water falls from a height of 60 to 100 ft. There are a number of beehivessurrounding the waterfall and perhaps the term Honey River has come from the Honey beesresiding there.

Kottayam, a city in the district if Kerala,spreads over an area of 55.40kms. It is the administrative capital of Kottayam district which is located in south-central Kerala. It has a population of 172,878 people residing in it.
Shopping
Kerala is famous for its bamboo products. However since Charalkunnu is a small hill station, there are not much things to shop and there are no shopping malls as such. However the locales put up small stalls and markets where tourists can purchase exquisite handmade bamboo products and tribal artifacts. Kerala is also rich in honey brought from the river Pamba.

  1. Thank you for informative post. Kerala is blessed with various hill stations. Such as wayanad, Matthupati, munnar, rajmala, pyeshal mala, and Ponmudi. If I talk about hill stations in North India then Kullu Manali is on the top.
