Bibnutibhushan wildlife sanctuary is located in the regions of Naldungri, which lies at a distanceof 28 km from Bongaon, which are a city as well as municipality in Parganas district of West Bengal state. This wildlife sanctuary lies amidst shirish trees, shimul, arjun, tut, minjiri, bamboo and shishu. This wildlife sanctuary covering an area of 68 square km lies on the bank of one of the most renowned rivers, Ichamati. This sanctuary has been rechristened as Bibhuti Bhushan wildlife sanctuary. Apart from wild animals such as Rabbit, Peacock, Monkey and Deer, a great number of birds like Phooltushi, Neelkanth, Shankacheel etc are often seen in an abundant quantity in this sanctuary.
Climate and the Most Appropriate Time to Visit
Bibnutibhushan wildlife sanctuary can be visited throughout the whole year. However, one should avoid visiting this sanctuary during monsoon time. During winters, some migratory birds come to this sanctuary.
How to get there
One has to travel to Ranaghat by boarding train from Kolkata and then avail the opportunity of boarding the bus for reach Naldungri. If one is travelling by car, one has to drive through highway no. 34 for reaching Naldungri. From Naldungri, one can easily reach Bibnutibhushanwildlife sanctuary either by treading on foot or hiring a van rickshaw.
By Air -
he closest airport of this Bibnutibhushan wildlife sanctuary is Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose international airport belonging to Kolkata.
By Rail -
ne is supposed to board the train from Sealdah station to Bongaon station.
By Road -
he buses ply from Sealdah to Bongaon through Ranaghat to bus stand of Nalguri. From there, one can walk to the sanctuary. One can also hire a rickshaw or board the bus at National highway 34.
Major Attractions
Walking in the jungles amidst deer, migratory birds, langurs; visit to scenic nearby villages; riding of boat in Ichhamati river and jounery to Chuyatiya, an international border lying between Bangladesh and India are some of the major attractions for weekend trips.
Fees and Timings
The entry fee for every individual is Rs. 10, which is quite affordable even for the common people.
