Nawab Saif Khan in the year 1658 found the Bahadurgarh Fort at about 6 kms from the Patiala. In the year 1837, Maharaja Karam Singh from Patiala built this port. This fort covered an area of about 2100 sq meters and is encircled by the 2 ramparts and moat that is circular in shape. This fort was in the police department custody as this was designed very compact and citadel.

This fort was situated on the left region of the Rajpura-Patiala road and this four-walled fort also encircled the village Saifabad. Only a solely person named Saif Khan who was in a relation of Aurangzeb, a Mughal Emperor, settled here in this place. He was buried here in this fort after his death. After his death, an area of 177 x 177 ft of tomb was built there, which is witnessed as a neglect edifice. Still now at the present time, the followers of Saif Khan lit a lamp on his tomb on the Thursday.

At the time of Aurangzeb reign in the year 1668, the mosque and village was founded as witnessed by the 2 inscriptions. This Saif Khan was admirer of the Guru Teg Bahadur as by the customs. At the time of rainy season, he was invited here. Two gurudwaras commemorated his trip as outside the road and inside the fort. The Gurdwara is named as Panj Bali Gurdwara. This fort of Bahadurgarh was manufactured at the cost of Rs. 10, 00,000 in the year of 1837-45 by the Maharaja Karam Singh.

Architecture

This place was named after the holy Guru Tegh Bahadur who was invited by the Saif Khan at this place and this place is at about one and half km from the Punjab University Gate. This fort enclosed the village Saifabad by its four wails at the Rajpura-Patiala road. There is only a solely person who settled down here is Saif Khan who is a relative of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb after having hold the various offices here. He was buried in this fort after his death and there was a tomb built in his memory which covers an area as a structure of 177 x 177 ft, which was neglected. This tomb was lit by the lamps every Thursday by his followers. At the reign of Aurangzeb in year 1668, the village and mosque was founded by the two inscriptions as a witness. Nawab Saif Khan was a huge admirer of the holy Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh and he also invited him to this place in every monsoon season. There were two gurudwaras, which commemorated his visit that outside of the road and inside the fort. One of the famous Gurudwara is Panj Bali Gurdwara. This fort was manufactured at the cost of Rs. 10, 00, 000. It covers an area of one mile, 536 yards and 2 feet in its circumference.

How to Reach

By Air

One of the best option to reach this place is by airport. To reach this place, one can have two flights between the Delhi-Chandigarh and Delhi-Amritsar. To visit the Patiala, one can also hire the taxis from the airport.

By Rail

The rail line is not direct, one can take the train from the cities of northern India that connects the train and bus route to Patiala as this is not in direct connections with the main line that covers the other major cities like Ferozepur, Jalandhar, Chandigarsh, Ludhiana, and Amritsar. To reach the Patiala, one can take the Shatabdi express or New Delhi-Bhatinda Inter City Express from the Delhi. From the stations, everyone get a taxi to reach the Patiala city. To ignore any delay in the trip, one can also book the taxi before the visit.

By Road

Patiala is connected to various major cities from the Delhi to Punjab via Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and Chandigarh, which can be visited from the services of deluxe bus. From Delhi, it will take about 250 km distance to reach the Patiala after the driving of 5 hours on the NH1. One can also visit Patiala via Zirakpur and Rajpura from the Chandigarh.

This fort was named after the Gurdwara Sahib Patshai Nauvin. There was architectural construction to show the reign of Sikhs. The Shiromini Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee take the charge of this Gurudwara. Various people visit this gurudwara on the Baisakhi festival.

Mosque

There was a mosque located in this fort. In the year of 1668, this mosque was established by the Saif Khan. Away from the 300 yards in the fort, this tomb is present. There was a fair held in the months of June and January in the memory of Saif Khan. This fair is popularly known as mela roza Sharit Nawab Saif Ali.

Weather and Best Time to Visit

The weather in the season summer is very harsh and temperature goes maximum up to 40 'C plus. The temperature in the winter is at 10 'C and winter is the best time to visit this place.

The starting of the months from October to March is the suitable time to visit this city as in thewinter season.
