Ranchi Science Centre



Ranchi is the capital city of Jharkhand, located in the north- eastern region of the India. RanchiScience Centre is located at the same place. It is governed under JCST i.e., Jharkhand Council on Science and Technology. This science centre is a double storied building covering upto 42 000 sq. metres of area. The cost of the area is INR 6.5 crores which is equally shared by both the Government of India and Jharkhand. National Council of Science Museums developed Ranchi Science Centre which was inaugurated by Arjun Munda, C.M of Jharkhand on 29th Nov 2010.
Different Sections In Museum
Ranchi Science Centre is the only place in the Jharkhand which covers such a vast area of land. The centre consists of three permanent science galleries and some other facilities also. They are:
Resources of Jharkhand
This gallery consists of lovely and amazing exhibits like replicas, animations, and quizzes mainly based on computers, walking through the forests with the lights and many more. This gallery covers upto 700 square metres of area, which is the clear reflection of the scientific and natural resources of the Jharkhand.
How Things Work
It is the second gallery in the Ranchi Science Centre which is also a major source of attraction. This location of the centre consists of all the equipment which we use in our day- to- day life. It consists of things starting from even a ball point pen to the latest i- phones. The gallery is further sub divided into various sections like a sections for tools, for machines, for transports and more. Section of media and electronics is the main area of attractions for the visitors.
Fun Science
It is the third permanent gallery of Ranchi Science Centre. This part of the gallery is a fun loving environment. It gives experience of gaining knowledge by interacting themselves with different aspects of life and science.
Facilities provided in Ranchi Science Centre are:
  • Gallery comprises of 3d projection theatre.
  • A big auditorium
  • Vast area for car parking
  • There is also a corner for the children which keep them busy.
  • A big computer room.
  • There is also a conference room where important meetings are carried on.
  • There is also a development library for exhibit.
  • Main office
  • A corner where things related to science are demonstrated.
  • There is a science library also.
  • Store
  • Visitors also take the experience of planetarium in the science centre.
  • There is an exhibition hall also.
  • Entry ticket costs only Rs.10 while for those of students it is only Rs.5.
How To Reach
There are different routes which takes the visitors to their destination i.e., Ranchi Science Centre. If one takes train route then it becomes easier to get there. As being the capital of the state, it is connected with the important cities via rail lines. Many express trains have their route through Ranchi. There are also local trains which are for the people living at somedistance from Ranchi.
By taking air route, one can easily reach Ranchi in just few hours. The air route is also connected with both national and international airlines. Bus is the safest and easier mode for the locals. People from other city can also travel through bus, but it can prove to be a long journey.
