Located in the Valsad district of Gujrat, India, Wilson hills is the nearest hill station to the Surat city in Gurat. This hill station is located close to the Dharampur Tehsil. From this Hill station one can have a view of the sea which is rarely found in very less regions in the world. The average height of thehill station is around 750m or 2500 ft. The place is very cool and humidity is comparatively less because of its height. It is a popular summer destination and people from the plains rush here during this time.

The distance of Wilson Hills from Surat is around 130 km and from Navsari it is located at a distance of 80 km. The place is 60 km away from Valsad. The tar road connects the Wilsonhills to the Dharampur town and the distance of the town from the hill base is around 29 km.

The name to this place was given in memory of the Governor of Mumbai during the years 1923 to 1928, Lord Wilson. The last king of Dharampr, Vijay Devji named the city after his name. King Vijay devji along with Lord Wilson did planning to turn the area into a beautiful hill station. The project did not get success and there is a monument at the peak of the station in memory of both of them.

A company called Hotel Wilson Highland Pvt Ltd, was formed here by a businessman belonging to Vapi, named Ashish Birendra Sharma in the year 2003. It aimed to develop into a hill resort.

By Road

The hill station is nicely connected to all the nearby cities. Like Surat ,Navsari , Valsad and Dharampur. The Dharampur town is established on the base of the hills. The willson hills is located at a steep climb of 20 km including sixteen twists.

By Rail

Nearest railway station is at Valsad which is about 60 km away from Wilson Hills.

By Air

Nearest Airport is at Surat which is 140 km away from Wilson Hills.

Places To Visit

The marble Chhatri is the main attraction of the place. It is dedicated to Lord Wilson, theBritish Governor. From the Hills the panoramic view of the nearby hills and Arabian Sea is very fascinating. It is an ideal spot for mountaineers and also for rock climbing.

There are many beautiful lakes, streams, waterfalls, which attracts the visitors. The elephant safari gives the opportunity to explore Flora and fauna of the place from nearest proximity.

Weather And Best Time To Visit

The weather of Wilson Hills is calm and pleasant with very less humidity as compared to the plains. The summers are warm but enjoyable and cool blowing winds lowers down the temperature. During the winters, the weather is cold and it is required to carry woolen clothes. The average rainfall throughout the year is about 1500 – 2000 mms. The place turns lush green during this time. The weather is very charming from October to March and it is the best time to visit the place.
