Chakrata is a charming hill station located at a height of 2270 mtrs from MSL.This place is located in the capital city of Dehradun of Uttaranchal.This hill station is a military base and located between the river Yamuna and Tons.The hill station is well surrounded by hilly peaks and sky high Deodar trees.This is very isolated hill station and at a normal distance of 100 kilometers from Dehradun.

This hill station has some unique attraction like free from pollution. Nature has blessed this place with a charming and attractive beauty.The long and cooling panoramic view invites the tourist time and again. In the eastern region of this hill station, famous city Mussoorie is located. Due to some Military restrictions, this hill station is not opened to all throughout the year.Though, this hill station has diversity in nature.General public of this place is literate.The literacy level of Chakrata is more than 75%.

All the major three modes of transportation are available to access this Hill station.

Through Air Route: The nearest airport is Jolly Grant. This Airport is located 113kilemeters far away from main hill station. Cabs are also available from airport to this place.

Through Rail Route

Dehradun is the nearest rail head to access this hill station. This station is located from Dehradun railway head at 87 kilometers. Frequent cabs and bus service is available from railway station. Two major trains which connect this hill station from rest of the country are Shatabdi Express and Mussoorie Express.

Through Road Ways

This hill station is also well linked with the roadways. From Delhi (Kashmiri Gate, ISBT) buses are easily available to this hill station.Taxies are also the means to reach here. Himachal Pradesh is also connected through road ways.

Weather and Best Time to Visit

Summers

During summers, temperature shuttles between 30°C, to10°C

and in winters the mercury shuttles between max 15°C and min. -5°C. Heavy snow fall is received during the winters. That is another reason to visit this place time and again.However, from April to June and Sept to Nov is the best time to visit this hill station.As two months of monsoon is disturbing.

Chilmiri Neck

On this place, the family accommodation and messing service centre of Military are situated.The very dense gathering of forest all around is the scene which a tourist can never forget. This place is an ideal place for nature lovers. Lush greenery gives an immense cooling to the eyes.

Deoban (Devban)

This place is located at a distance of 16 kilometers from Chakrata.The very high located place (not less than 2200 mtr’s) from MSL is the main attraction. A very large meadow covered with lush greenery creates an unforgettable impact on the tourist.

Tiger Falls

This fall is located 20 kilometers away from Chakrata. The fall is the major attraction for visitors. A trek less than 5 kilometers can reach a person upto this water fall. Mesmerizing beauty of this fall invites a visitor time and again.

Kalsi

This rock was built in 450 B.C. and also shows the period of conversion of Ashoka to Buddhism.This announcement also discovers the high level of moral thinking of that time. This edict is spread in 80 sqft area. NAC looks after this site.

In case any tourist from abroad wants to visit Chakrata, he is permitted only upto Kalsi due to some military restriction. He will have to obtain prior permission from Commandant 22 AirForce Wing, C/O 56 APO to visit Chakrata.
