Dwarahat has been a place associated with 55 historical temples and is just at a distance of 37 kms from Ranikhet. Dwarahat is in district of Almora.

The meaning of Dwarahat is Dwara which means “Way” and Hat means “Heaven”. As the namesuggest this place is very near to heaven and makes feel one like visiting the god’s own place. A popular Kumaon Engineering College is one of the educational institutes in this region. This area also has the government colleges out of which is one of them is specifically for girls while the second one is for both the girls and boys.

Dwarahat has many temples that were built by Katyuri kings. The main temple is known as Maa Dunagiri and is only 20 kms from Dwarahat. There is a Durga temple and one has trek through 500 stairs to reach the temple. The view of mountain peaks from the Durga temple is mesmerizing.

The closest rail line to Dwarahat is Kathgodam and just 88 kms from Dwarahat. Trains can be boarded from Lucknow, Delhi and Kolkata to reach Kathgodam and then a taxi can be hired from railway station to reach Dwarahat.

By Road

It is well connected with NH 87 and buses can be taken from ISBT Anand Vihar Delhi to reach Dwarahat.
