A pilgrim for Hindus that is in state Uttarakhand that is part of India is known as Kedarnath. This place has also been declared as the nagar panchayat for the district Rudraprayag. There are total four dham in India and are referred as Char Dham and one of the char dham is known as Kedarnath that is situated in Great Himalayas and also its location is above the Mandakini river and is skirted with snowcapped Himalayan peaks.
The famous and most divine temple known as the Kedarnath Temple is located here and is named in the Char Dham of the Hindu pilgrims and is worshipped by many from all parts of the world.
During the Satya Yug this place was ruled by King Kedar and since then this place was named as Kedarnath after its ruler’s name. King Kedar’s daughter whose name was Vrinda is believed to have been an avatar of Goddess Lakshmi. In the honour of Vrinda the piece of land has been named as Vrindavan. It is believed that the Pandavas from the Mahabharata period contented Lord Shiva in Kedarnath by reparation.

The closest rail head to Kedarnath is Rishikesh that is at a distance of 221 km from Kedarnath.
By Road
The devotees to this place have to walk for 14 km after reaching Gaurikund. Gaurikund can be reached from Rishikesh, Dehradun, Haridwar or Kotdwar. One can reach either of these place by road, rail or by flight.

Kedarnath Temple
A pilgrim that is devoted to Lord Shiva and visited by many devotees as known as Kedarnath and is among the most divine pilgrims for Hindus. This place is skirted with snow covered Himalayas. The temple of Kedarnath was built in 8th century by Adi Shankaracharya. Kedarnath temple is considered as the main temple of Panch Kedar. It is a holy place.
Chorabari Tal
This is a lake just 3 kms from Kedarnath and the mirror image of Himalayas can be seen in this lake. This lake is also named as Gandhi Sarivar.
