Gangolighat , a small hamlet located in the district of Pithoragarh, Uttrakhand. The place inherits its identity in accordance to the Gangoli which is a pargana and a hat.
The place is well known for its delicious peethas and also serves as the headquarter for the districtPithoragarh.
The place offers a spectacular view of the great Nanda range along with the peaks of panchuchuli. The place Gangolighat is located at a distance of 75km from its major district Pithoragarh.
The Great Himalayan range beholds in it this majestic village and makes it a holy city too.Commonly known for the Kalika of Kali mata. The place is filled with the picturesque scene all around the little hamlet. They may be the beautiful sceneries of mountains, well carved in temples of the nature itself. The streams and the ravines add stars to this place. The place is important in terms of heritage too. There are a number of folk tales and myths associated with this lovely holy place.
Gangolighat is also one of the renowned hindu place as it consists of the goddess Kali temple and the Shakti Peeth, which was established by Shankaracharya. The place provides a heart throbbing experience at the time of Navaratri, the holy Festival of Hindus.

This place is one of those villages that offers us a 24*7 snow experience as it is always under the line of snow in the areas located at an altitude of 3500m and above.
March- June (summer)- the hamlet is warm in these months as the temperature gradually rises. And hence provide us with the best time to visit the place.
June to September(monsoon)- the place experiences slow showers of rains making the place more green and beautiful.
December- January(winter)- the place experiences snowfall and is generally not suited for excursion as is too damn cold. But if one wishes to be an Eskimo and visit than there is no harm too.
Places to Visit
Chamunda temple
It is one of the famous temples of goddess Kali the whole soul creator of this place. This temple is beautifully carved with the scriptures on the mountain walls. The actual location of this temple is at the Shail Parvat.
Caves
The place beholds in it a number of caves, the renowned ones are Patal Bhuvneshwar, Shailashwer Gufa, Bholeshwar Gufa and the most famous Mukteshwar Gufa. Every of this Gufa is the residence of one of the god of Hindu mythology.
Haat Kalika Mandir
The temple of goddess Kali is a renowned and notable one. It is the place where Shankracharya installed the Mahakali Shaktipeeth. It is belived the goddess initially used to reside in the land of Bengal but then shifted to the caves of Gangolighat. The place is not only famous within the Hindu culture but also holds immense respect in the Indian Army as the famous Capt. Bikram Batra was a strong believer of goddess Kali.

How to Reach Gangolighat
The place can comfortably be reached by trains and the most nearby railway station to the place is Kathogodam. The Kathgodam railway station is located at a distance of 200km. Hence the rest over distance has to be covered by cabs. Which are easily avialble.
There a number of flights that are available to reach this place and the nearby airport to the place located at 312km is New Delhi.
