Joshinath is on the route of the two sacred placesthat is Haridwar and Badrinath. It is nested in the Himalayas. Auli that is considered as the best spot for skiing is considered as the junction for Joshimath. This is also a municipal board for the Chamoli district.

Joshimath can be reached from Haridwar by hiring taxi or boarding a local bus. The transfer from Haridwar to Joshimath is mesmerizing as one can view ganges and its streams on its enroute.

The closest airport to Joshimath is Jolly Grant Airport of Dehradun and is at a distance of 221 kms from Joshimath.

By Rail

The nearest rail head to Joshimath is Rishikesh and taxi or Local buses can be hired to reach Joshimath.

Joshimath is nicely connected to the roads by Dehradun, Nainital, Rishikesh and other cities in Uttarakhand.

Places to Visit

Kalpavriksha

The history of this tree goes long back up to 1200 trees. This is considered as the oldest tree in India. Shri Adi Shankaracharya meditated under this tree and also the cave he lived is located here. It has 21.5 meters of circumference area. History of the tree says it used to bear both fruits and flowers but in the present days only flowers grow on this tree. The leaves of the tree are green and fresh till today.

Narsingh Temple

It is house of Lord Vishnu and it is believed that if the statue of Narsingh elopes the route to Badrinath temple will be closed. This is said so because the statue of Narsingh is dwindling on daily basis. Narsingh is avatar of Lord Vishnu.

The minimum and maximum temperature in summers is 11 and 26 degree Celsiusrespectively while in winters it goes a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 11 degree Celsius.

July to November is the best time to visit Joshimath.
