Uttarakhand Pauri Hill Station

This city is located in the region of Garhwal and has a big popularity among all hill station of Uttarakhand. This hill station has nature’s blessing in beauty. The high and snow clad mountain peaks of great Himalayas are the parts of this place. This place has a thick forestry around it.The treatment given to the visitor is same as to any guest. The cultural and behavioral pattern of this place is unique.
The Kandoliya hills are the base of location of this beautiful hill station.  Location of Pauri is at 1841 mtrs high altitude from MSL. Luckily this place falls under a subtropical weather zone and thus has a pleasant climate throughout the year.  Little hot summers (easily tolerable), wet Monsoons and chilled winter are the specialty of this hill station.  In winter period, the city gets very cold weather.  Some of the famous and important Himalayan snow clad peaks like Bunder Punch, Swargrohini, Sumeru and Chaukhambha are easily viewable from this hill station.  It is practically a very pleasant experience to see Himalayan peaks rather that mentioning.
This hill station is famous for its places.  Some of the tourist, who regularly visits this city, goes to their fixed place of interest.  Another famous hill station Khirsu is located just adjacent to Pauri.  The main Kandoliya hills are just 2 kilometers far located from Pauri.  A very dense forestry and lush greenery is sufficient enough to attract a visitor.  At this place a temple of Kandoliya God is also located.

How to Reach
All the three major modes of transportation are available to access this hill station:
By Air
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant airport which is located at 133 kilometers away from Pauri. From Delhi, the flight schedule is very frequent.  Except Wednesday, the flights are available throughout the week to Jolly Grant airport.  From airport, private taxies are available to reach Pauri.  Devprayag and Rishikesh are also connected with roadways from this airport.
By Rail
Kotdwar is the nearest railhead. Many trains to Kotdwar are available. Meter gauge railway line is connected upto Kotdwar. The nearest railway station to Pauri is located in Kotdwara.  This railway station is 101 kilometers a head from Pauri.
By Road
From ISBT (Kashmiri Gate) one can catch the bus services to reach this place.  From another places of Uttarakhand, buses are also available.  Taxies and tourist cabs are also available.  National Highway 119 takes a person upto Pauri.
Places to See
Kandoliya
This temple is devoted to Lord Kandoliya.  Pauri-Lansdowne road is the place of location of this temple. Shiva temple is also located at a distance of 2 kilometers from this town.  Asia’s highest stadium is also located on top of the mountain, which is widely viewed, by a number of tourists every year.   This place is much famous because of magnificent sunset view.
Chaukhamba View Point
This spot is just located at 4 kilometers distance from Pauri.  From here, the mesmerizing view of the Great Himalayan snow – clad peak is in front. Thick and dense forestry around the Chaukhamba view point in another reason for its fame. 
Kyunkaleshwar Mahadev
This temple was built during 8th century and dedicated to Lord Shiva. From this temple, very attractive and mesmerizing view of snow-clad Himalaya can be seen. General belief in locals is that Adi Shankaracharya has lifted the fame of this temple.  In this temple Lord Shiva, Goddess Parwati and their son Ganesha and Kartikeya are placed.  Lord Shiva is the deity of this temple.
Khirsu
This hill station is located at 15 kilometers distance from Pauri.  The average height of Khirsu is 1700mtrs from MSL.  Khirsu is located at very clam place and this feature adds a feather to its cap. The dense coverage of Oak trees and lush greenery makes Khirsu one of the beautiful hill stations of Uttarakhand. This place falls in Pauri Garhwal district of the Uttranchal state.
