Auli is a significant destination for skiing in the mountains of Himalayas in Indian state of Uttarakhand.The name Auli has a literal meaning asmeadow hence it is also called as 'bugyal' in the region.People usually say that Auli is one of the bestdestinations for skiing in the world however it is not as popular place as Shimla or Manali or Gulmarg. It was taken into account as a tourist destination after Uttarakhand being declared as an independent state.One can also find a number of pilgrimage destinations here and therefore it is known as "Dev Bhoomi" meaning "Land of Gods".There is ‘Char Dham' found here.The location of Auli falls on the way to Badrinath.It is also bestowed upon with a picturesque view of the panoramic peaks of Himalayas, the largest mountainrange of the world.Auli prides itself of having the longest cable car in Asia i.e. Gondola. Besides this, tourists can also avail the opportunity of having a Chair Lift as well as a Ski-Lift.
Best Time for Skiing
The best suitable to visit here is the month of January to the early weeks of March when tourists usually come for skiing. However the weather here is quite uncertain.

For visiting Auli, the weather in the month of April is quite pleasant.The weather is moderate in this month and temperature can be 7-17°C.  However, April is cold but suitable for all kind of tourist activities.The days are usually warm but nights remain cool.
Best Season for Auli
The climate of Auli is cool throughout the year.The summers remain quite pleasant having moderate type of climate and temperature found is around 15°C and is the ideal time for seeing sights, skiing as well as visiting close by attractive destinations.There are monsoons from July-October bringing scanty rainfall. The months of November-February come with chilly days of winters having minimum temperature around 4°C.

The closest airport to Auli is Jolly Grant Airport of Dehradun found at a distance of 179 km from Auli.This airport is 20 km distant from the city center found in Dehradun.One can avail the taxi cabs from airport of Dehradun to Auli.The nearest international airport is the Delhi airport found at a distance of 500km.
By Road
If one goes to Auli by road than it is a bit risky as the road which leads to Auli is in miserable condition and is subjected to rockfalls which have become frequent because of deforestation.So it is advisable for the tourists to avoid travelling this route during winters.

Auli has become pretty popular among those who love skiing.However, the weather here is quite unpredictable and therefore only few lucky people enjoy skiing and snowfall.
Artificial lake
Interestingly, the highest man-made or artificial lake is found at Auli, beside the Clifftop Club, a private hotel. It has been developed by the government for creating a view of artificial snow for new slopes of skiing in case of low snow fall.

There are a number of picturesque views which have surrounded Auli and make it a place worth travelling.There are high peaks of Kamet, Mana and Nanda Devi, the tallest one.These 270 degree views might become memorable throughout the life.
