Rajaji National Park
Located along the mesmerizing beauty of the Shivalik Mountain ranges in the ‘’Land of Gods” i.e. Uttaranchal. Notified as a National Park in the year 1983,Rajaji National Park became famous for its spectacular beauty and its embellishing bio diversity. Rajaji National Park is made up by a consolidationof three notable Sanctuaries namely Motichur Sanctuary, Chilla Sanctuary and Rajaji Sanctuary. The park is named after the famous Sri C. Rajgopalachariya (Indian Statesman), popularly referred to as Rajaji. The Park is spread over an area of about 820 sq.km outstretched over the encompassing three districts namely Dehradun, Haridwar and Pauri Garhwal of the Indian state, Uttaranchal.
The Park is opulent in flora and fauna and it in turn maintains an ecological balance in the Shivalik’s natural system.It is assumed that the shivalik track is augmented with fossils which are worth a great deal of money .People believe that the shivalik track is more than 10 million years old. The Park is covered upto 24 km by the splendid flow of the Ganges. The Ganges and many other brooks and streams are responsible for the Parks impressive vegetation and diversity. The vegetation of the Park includes Scrublands, Sal forests, board leaved mixed forests and grassy lands. The park provides shelter to a large number of birds and animals like mammals of various species, variety of butterflies, Frogs and many other kinds of Amphibians, rare Lizards and Snakes.
The Park is an ultimate tourist place for the nature lovers as the Park enlightens the tourists about several birds’ species, reptiles, animals and natural vegetation. The Park remains accessible for the tourists the whole week from mid November to the mid of June. The Park remains closed during the rainy season. The forest rest houses provide accommodations to the tourists during the season.The extravagant park gives several opportunities to its tourists to make the most of their experience with captivating landscapes, lusting sceneries and wild life.

History
Sri C.Rajagopalchari was the very first and the only Governor General of India after the Independence. He is popularly referred to as Rajaji in the context of the National Movements in the Indian history. It is after his name that the Rajaji National Park is named. He also received the most prestigious Bharat Rattan Award in the year 1954. The Bharat Rattan award is indeed the most honorable and the highest civilian award.The park was established in the year 1983 by the consolidation of the three Sanctuaries namely Chilla Sanctuary, Motichur Sanctuary and Rajaji Sanctuary covering the whole 820.42 sq.km area of the encompassing districts of Pauri Garhwal, Haridwar and Rishikesh of the Indian state Uttaranchal.
Best Time To Visit
The Park remains open for the tourists from mid- November till the mid of June. The climate of the Park is the same as that of Rishikesh because of the close proximity. Therefore November to June is the most suitable time for the tourists. During this stretch of the year i.e. November to June, the temperature varies from 20-25°C at the day time in winters. Whereas in summers it is as hot as 48°C. Therefore making it feasible for the tourists to visit in winters. The Park at an average experiences 750mm of rainfall during the rainy season.

How To Get There
By Air
The Park is easily accessible from Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradune. Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest Airport and it is 33km away from the Park. The Airport has a 50 mins flight from Delhi every day.
By Rail
Dehradun and Haridwar are the nearest railway stations from the Park. They are distanced at 24km and 8km respectively from the Park.
By Road
The Northern boundary of the Park is easily accessible and well connected with the Dehradun-Delhi highway. The Park can also be reached from Haridwar, Dehradun and Rishikesh via long distance bus services. From Delhi the Park can be easily reached by road as the NH58 heads towards Haridwar via Meerut, Muzzaffarnagar and Roorkee. The District road from Haridwar then heads towards the main entrance of the Park i.e. Chilla.
Things To Do
Elephant Safari
The most exciting way to discover the colorful and lively wildlife of the Park is Jungle Safari on an Elephant. The tourists must take the way via Camp King Elephant to make their experience more adventurous. The Vidhyavasini Temple is just the right place to spend a night and have dinner.
Bird Watching
The Park is a home to no less than 350 species of birds and it is the best place for the people who are intense bird lovers. The best time to observe these birds is early morning with a binocular.
Rafting
An exemplary Rafting experience can be gained in the Park as the 24km splendid flow of Ganges gives tourists an opportunity to do so. In order to make the most of it the tourists must carry a map of Camp Ganga descends and then dive into the marine drive and reach Shivpuri.
Rock Climbing/Rappelling
The sport of rock climbing has different definitions for everyone. And the park is a preferred destination for rock climbers.

Weather
During the winters i.e. November to February, when the days are calm, the temperature varies from 12 to 25 degree Celsius and the nights are cold and humidity is quiet low. Whereas in summer i.e. May to June the temperature is as high as 38-40 degree Celsius. The level of rainfall increases its magnitude after June with occasional thunderstorms. During the rainy season the humidity level is quiet high with 750mm of precipitation in July to August. The range of the annual rainfall varies from 1200-1500mm.Summers, winters and monsoon are the main seasons in the Himalayas.
