Being in the shores of the Arabian Sea in the East and Indian Ocean in the west, these beaches in India have water expanses that extend to a great distance. While the mainland shores receive a high traffic of tourists, the islands of Andaman and Nicobar Island, Lakshadweep also are full of beaches where tourists from all around the country as well as from foreign nations arrive for their vacations. These are places where the sun and the surf along with sandy shores have attracted millions of people, who yearn for peace and tranquillity.
Visiting these places for a few days and staying in the resorts and luxury hotels could be the perfect idea of a holiday. Some of the waterfronts as in Gujarat and Mumbai beaches have plenty of water sports activities going around for the adventure lovers. There are fairs and merry-go-rounds found along these shores for the entertainment of the kids and children. A simple walk with hand in hand can be quite relaxing for the honeymoon couples, who visit these beaches in India for their honeymoon trips.
In the tour and travel packages that are provided by various tour operators, there are destinations comprising of beaches which are being taken up by the tourists. Sometimes, a package consists necessarily of trip to such sites apart from being able to visit nearby hillstations, which are found in the Western Ghats. Also, a number of temples are found associated with the beaches in India, which means a great trip for the Indians as they are able to pray in the temples and then give a visit to the beaches. Destinations such as Rameswaram, Chennai, Konark, Gujarat, etc are having such combinations of temples alongside the beaches.
Some also have important monuments such as forts, lighthouse, palaces, etc, which further adds to the attraction and sightseeing places alongside these well known beaches.
