Khangchendzonga National Park
Khangchendzonga National Park, located in North Sikkim adjoining Nepal, extends over a region of 850 km2 & was established on 26 August 1977. The region of the park is identified Biosphere preserve with height varying from eighteen thirty meter to over eight thousand five hundred and fifty meter. It is enclosed by few striking mountain crests & glaciers on every side except its eastern portion. Khanchenjunga lies towards the western boundary and it is among the uppermost mountain crests towering on top of almost uninterrupted excellent forest wrap. Between the state avifauna that comprises of approximately five fifty classes of birds several are to be seen in plenty in the park such as Satyr Tragopan, Osprey, Himalayn griffon, Lammergeier, Blood Pheasants, Tibetan snow cock, Snow pigeon, Sunbirds, Impeyan phesants, green pigeon, tragopan pheasant, Asian emerald cookoo and eagles. Some Lepcha ethnic settlements are also there within the park.

History
Khangchendzonga National Park was recognized in nineteen seventy seven.

By air

31A National Highway is the closest main road to the park. Sikkim’s capital Gangtok is the closest city whereas Chungthan at around twenty 20 km distant is the closest town.
Things To Do In - National Park
Trekking
The majority of the trekking ways begin by Yuksom (one forty five km (ninety mi) commencing Gangtok) in West Sikkim. Together with several travel agents, State Tourism Department arranges hikes to Dzongri (4,050 metres or 13,290 ft) & other spots. The admired trek ways are:

Flora

Fauna
The park has several mammal classes comprising musk deer, snow leopard, wild dog, slothbear, civet, red panda, Himalayan Tahr, Tibetan wild ass, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan blue sheep, serow, goral & takin, over and above reptiles comprising rat snake & Russell's viper.
Avifauna
Approximately 550 clases of birds are available comprising Blood Pheasant, Asian Emerald Cuckoo, Osprey, Satyr Tragopan, Himalayan Griffon, Lammergeier, Green Pigeon, Tibetan Snowcock, Snow Pigeon , Tragopan Pheasant, Impeyan Pheasant, and Sunbird & Eagle.

Entry Permits: Indian public must get an Inner-Line Permit commencing the state home section. Weather
