Taj Mahal
One of the 7
wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal, situated in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India is
an embodiment of magnificence and love. It is the best of all the creations of
the Mughal architecture. Its immense and immaculate beauty leaves you bowled
over. The Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan got this miraculous work of art built in
the memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. With over 22000 laborers and
about 1000 elephants employed, the construction of Taj Mahal completed in 22
years. The Taj Mahal sphere consists of five major components:
· Bageecha (The gardens)
· Masjid (The mosque)
· Naqqar Khana (The rest house)
· Rauza (The main mausoleum)
Taj Mahal’s
architecture, which is a combination of Persian, Central Asian and Islamic
designs, extend incomparable grandeur and magnanimity. Its sheen and scientific
set up beats all other wonders of the world. On the finer side, the intricate
illustrations on the walls and the jaali work, meticulously worked upon
entwined floral ornamentations leave you speechless.
Verses from the holy Quran are carved in highly nuanced calligraphy on the archway at the entrance. Mausoleum in the Taj Mahal has the tombs of both Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. River Yamuna flows right behind the main Taj dome, which is 58 feet in diameter and 213 feet in height, encircled by four ancillary domed chambers. The garden holds four pools dividing it at the center. Each of these four sections is further subdivided into four sections and then each into yet another four sections. On the left side of Taj Mahal is the Mosque and on the right is the Naqqar Khana, which highlight its symmetry.`
