Anjuna Beach


 Anjuna Beach is considered among the most conspicuous beaches in Goa. This exotic beach boasts off weird collection of red laterite rocks, which lay on the white sands. This wonderful collection of this rock is called as the gemstone of Anjuna. The extraordinary beauty of gleaming waves gushing to hug the yellowish golden sand lying on the ground of the beach can be perceived visually in full swing. In fact, Anjuna is a tiny hamlet, situated in north Goa, on the coastal areas of the Arabian Sea.

Anjuna Beach is commonly referred as the weak capital ever existent in the world. It enjoyed immense popularity for the Hippies and its Trance parties, who took no pains in synthesizing the tradition of spirituality belonging to the East and the music, ideas and art belonging to the west. Anjuna is an appropriate spot for the purpose of lazing holidaymakers. In addition to this, the tranquil water belonging to the Arabian Sea striking gently on the coastal areas of India, Anjuna emerges live along with its ever conspicuous Wednesday flea market and full-moon parties.

The sea, which flows at Anjuna Beach, is very safe for having bath, whereas the soft glittering sands are very soothing for bathing in the sun. On the northern side of Anjuna, there is well-known flea market, where many things like jewellery, bags,Rajasthani clothes and Kashmiri handicrafts are sold in abundance. It is also famous for its full-moon parties, which are very enjoyable. These parties are very lavish in nature and attract tourists in abundance. The trance party accompanied with merriment, frolic and dance continues throughout night next to the fire. The major attractions of this beach are grand Albuquerque Mansion, which was built in the year of 1920. It is flanked by towers which are of octagonal shape and an enchanting tile-roof. The other attractions are the Chapora Fort and the Mascarenhas Mansion.
Location
Anjuna Beach is located in the northern direction of two conspicuous beaches of Calangute and Baga. The closest city to Anjuna is Mapusa. The buses ply daily from Anjuna to Mapusa and vice versa. Thivim is the nearest railway station to this beach and is located in Mapusa. Panaji, the state capital of Goa lies at a distance of 18 km from this wonderful beach and the nearest airport lies at a distance of 47 km from here.
How To Reach
Anjuna Beach lies at a distance of 8 km from Mapusa and is 18 km away from Panaji. Anjuna village is joined with other places as well.
By Air
The closest airport is Dabolim airport, which lies at a distance of 47 km and 29 km from Anjuna village and Panaji respectively.
By Rail
The closest railway station to Anjuna Beach is Karmali. The Karmali railway station lies at a distance of 29 km and 11 km from Anjuna village and Panaji respectively.
By Road
There are many buses, which proffer services every hour to this town from Mapusa. You can also get taxies as per your wishes.
Temperature and Weather
Goa boasts off a compatible type of weather condition with a little bit of variation in the temperature throughout the whole year. During the months of December and January, the woolen clothes are worn. The months like April and May remain generally hot. During months from June to October, heavy rainfall occurs and reaches up to 320 cm. During summer months, the temperature ranges from 24 degree centigrade to 32 degree centigrade and during winters, the temperature varies for 21 degree centigrade to 32 degree centigrade. Due to pleasant weather condition, Anjuna is approachable at any time during the year. Nevertheless, the tourists should be careful about the heavy rainfall, which occurs during months between June and October. The best time for visiting Anjuna is from November to February.
Kothamangalam is joined to Ernakulam through Perumbavoor or Muvattupuzha by buses, which are privately operated. There are also such buses, which run frequently from Thattekad to Kothamangalam and vice versa. The construction of a grand bridge across the popular river, Periyar, has been completed recently.
Attractions
The major attractions of this beach are grand Wednesday Flea Market, Chapora Fort, Mascarenhas Mansion and Albuquerque Mansion, which was constructed in the year of 1920.Albuquerque Mansion is surrounded by towers of octagonal shape and gleaming Mangalore tile roof. Chapora fort gives a scenic view of Vagator and Anjuna beaches.
Albuquerque Mansion
It was constructed in 1920. Its attractive features are fabulous Mangalore tile-roof and octagonal towers.
Mascarenhas Mansion
It boasts off the most attractive balconies and the best kind of stained glass floral scrubbing. The L-shaped lounge belonging to the monument, which are laid along the length of the porch, is made up of costly wood material.
The Chapora Fort
The magnificent Chapora fort proffers an excellent view of the exotic beach. It is well maintained except a few depredations. It is believed that this fort was constructed by rulers belonging to Muslim community prior to invasion by the Portuguese.
Wednesday Flea Market
Wednesday Flea Market is considered one of the most popular traditional market, where thousands of tourists gather for fulfillment of their desires. It is held every Wednesday. It is related to the year of 1970’s, when this place was visited by hippies and they sold their belongings before leaving this place. This market was banned for many years for promotion of drug trafficking. Later, after eight years, it was revived by Anjuna Panchayat. The fame of this market among the tourists and the locals can be witnessed by a huge traffic congestion, which occurs here every Wednesday. Once, you get there, this market will proffer your with different kinds of products, which are so distinct that it will be an unforgettable memory for whole life. All kinds of handicrafts including Gujarati and Kashmiri trinklets, cassettes of Goa Trance, cameras to elephant rides etc are found in this market. This market is considered as a heaven for good bargainers and hardcore shoppers. The schedule of the market starts at noon and remain abuzz with activities till the sun sets. Once you are in Goa, you will not miss the opportunity of these colors.

The Acid House Party
The party never comes to an end on Anjuna Beach. In fact, it is the hard spirit of the party, which makes Anjuna a unique place for hilarious and lavish parties and also party animals, particularly during New Year period and the Christmas. Usually, the nightlife of this beach becomes very exhilarating at shore bar, which is situated at the centre of the beach. The sound system is very striking and music sounds funky. The night appears energetic with trance music from London. There is no scarcity of party spots. What you need to do is just to indulge yourself into voila and party mood. The activity of swimming is quite secure at the southern end of the beach. The hardy terrain maintains the tranquility of the sea and undertow to a bare minimum.
