Juhu Beach


One among the most famous beaches in Mumbai is the Juhu Beach. Places like Vile Parle, Santacruz and Andheri lies very close to the beach. Compared to the other tourist destinations in Mumbai the place is less crowded, which makes the tourists visit the beach while in Mumbai, even though it becomes crowded in the evenings and weekends.

Mumbais famous street foods like bhelpuri, pani puri, chaats, pab bhaji etc. is available in plenty at the beach. Comparatively the food stands maintain a good hygiene. Restaurants likeLittle Italy, Penne, Don Giovanni, and Mangi Ferra are very popular for their Italian food. Many apartments and luxury hotels are also there at the southern end of Juhu Beach. Since the planes from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport takeoff directly towards the sea over the beach, the place is also popular for watching aircraft.
A place called Gandhi Gram is located at the north end of Juhu Beach. Children usually enjoy their vacations by playing games like cricket, football, basketball at the Juhu Beach. In June 2011, the ship MV Wisdom was stuck on the Juhu Beach.
Location
Juhu Beach is a famous holiday beach on the shores of Arabian Sea, which is located atdistance of eighteen kilometers north from the city center. The place is one among the posh localities of the city and many of the famous Bollywood film stars bungalows can be found at Juhu. Among the filmmakers, Juhu Beach is one of the favorite spot for shooting and thereby one can see the shootings held in and around the area.
Many apartments and luxury hotels can be found on the southern end of Juhu Beach, which are the Mumbai's movers and shakers favorite haunt. On weekends, Juhu Beach is generally more crowded.
Many of the Indian beach entertainment along with dancing monkeys, acrobats, cricket matches, toy sellers can be seen in Juhu Beach on weekends. One can also find so many vendors selling many things like T-shirts and the items which are made from seashells, like cute little Indian dolls.
How To Reach
Juhu is near to the Mumbai’s airports, which is located at a distance of 20-25 km north from the city center.
Air
Mumbai has its own airport, since it is one among the main metropolitan cities of India. Juhu is very near to the domestic and international airports, so that one can reach the place within a few minutes from the airports.
Rail
The city is well connected to other places within the city as well as to the other places in the country through rail (Mumbai Central and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus or VT) network. One can catch a train to either Santa Cruz station or Vile Parle station from Church gate or VT using the Harbor Line to reach Juhu. From Vile Parle Railway Station, Juhu Beach is just three kilometers away.
Road
From Dadar Bus Stand, Juhu is just 15 kms. The beach can be easily accessed by tourists from any part of the city. State and private buses are also there from all important places of the city. Taxis and autorikshaws are also easily available for transportation.
Temperature And Weather
The climate is uniform throughout the year in the beach. The place is having a moderate climate, which is never too cold or hot. All throughout the year, the place is almost humid. During summer, the temperature varies between a minimum of 25°C and a maximum of 35°C. In winters, the weather is very pleasant. The monsoons are from mid June to September and it rains quite heavily during the season.
Attractions
One among the most beautiful places in Mumbai is Juhu Beach. The beach can be accessed from Santa Cruz, Vile Parle as well as from Andheri side. The beautiful spectacular view of the sun setting into the Arabian sea, in different shades of red and orange, is really a treat for one’s eyes. The beach will be crowded with local people, ferry riders and food sellers during the evening time as the sun sets.

Juhu Beach is one among the best picnic spot in Mumbai. Kids can enjoy themselves by trying their luck at the shooting galleries, at the snake chambers and also by taking fun rides. It is the best place to have party at night with friends and visitors without any restrictions.
Restaurants
There are a number of food joints at the Juhu Beach. Mumbai’s speciality dish, Bhelpuri can be tried out at any of the eating joints. Mouth watering pani puri, aloo tikki and pav bhaji can also be tried at the eating joints. Try out the thrilling ice gola, after tasting the spicy street food. Kulfi is also very tasty, as it is very cold and sweet. Nearyby restaurants also have exotic sea food delicacies which one can try after having the vegetarian street foods.
Many food stalls are there at Juhu Beach making it an ideal snack point, but it is not advised to swim at the beach. Famous Mumbai style street food like bhelpuri, pani puri, shevpuri, and all chaats can be tried out from the place, but cannot guarantee on the hygiene. One can have a fancy excursion with a steaming cup of coffee and a splendid view of the coast, by visiting many five star hotels at Juhu. The oldest and the most popular hotel at the place is the Juhu Hotel with a 24 hour coffee shop and a spectacular view of the coast.
Juhu is also famous for many restaurants with many seafood specialities, pizza joints, exclusive vegetarian restaurants, ice-cream parlours, south Indian restaurants, Italian speciality restaurant etc. Many well known bars, pubs and discotheques are also there at the area.
Fairs And Festivals
Ganesh Chaturthi is the biggest festival of Mumbai, which the tourists can enjoy on Juhu Beach. The festival is celebrated on the fourth day of Bhadrapada, between the months of August and September. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated to rejoice the birth of Lord Ganesh and celebrations will be held continuously for ten days. By carrying the immense idol of Lord Ganesh, grand processions are held and the idols are finally immersed in water.
Shopping
There are so many small shops selling different items at the Juhu Beach. Handicrafts items like the seashells, gems, artificial jewellery items, books, goggles, hand kerchiefs, flutes etc. can be bought from the place. Balloons and many other sport items can also be bought from the place for children.
